A video game at school to learn mathematics

Just a real video game, sandbox style! Well yes, you understood correctly. Thanks to the “Superflat Mathematics” project, hundreds of teachers and thousands of children and young people from 60 schools throughout Italy do video-playing mathematics.
It is an educational video game developed by Stemblocks, a spin-off of the University of L'Aquila which, thanks to a consolidated teaching methodology, combines learning, fun and inclusiveness, revolutionizing the approach to Mathematics in schools. Primary and lower secondary school children and young people face, guided by their teachers, a path that passes from mathematical problem solving to individual and group reflection to end in a real collective class discussion to share what has been learned in the activity. In this way, Mathematics therefore becomes an engaging adventure accessible to all, where each challenge is an opportunity to learn, grow and have fun together.
The speakers will illustrate the project and present, through their direct experiences, the results obtained during the experiments conducted in schools in recent years.
Participants include Prof. Leonardo Guidoni, University of L'Aquila and CEO of Stemblocks srl and Prof. Silvia Baccaro, Istituto Comprensivo Parco della Vittoria, Rome.
