Topolino and the Path of History: On the Trail of Ancient Rome

A Journey into Ancient Rome is the first volume of the new Giunti Disney series, which takes readers on a trip through great historical eras. This issue focuses on the Appian Way, brought to life in the comic book story Mickey Mouse and the Path of History, written by Francesco Artibani and drawn by Alessandro Perina. The five-part adventure, originally published in 2023 in the magazine Topolino, follows Mickey Mouse and Goofy along the famous road, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site a year ago.

To celebrate this publishing project and the anniversary of the Appian Way’s UNESCO recognition, Romics will host a special event in collaboration with Giunti Disney. This unmissable talk will feature the authors, Francesco Artibani and Alessandro Perina, along with Veronica Di Lisio (Head of Division and Editorial Director at Giunti), Professor Giuseppe Ceraudo (Professor of Ancient Topography at the University of Salento), Dr. Simone Quilici (Director of the Appia Antica Archaeological Park), and Dr. Angela Maria Ferroni (coordinator of the Appian Way’s UNESCO candidacy). The discussion will explore the potential that can emerge when new media intersects with cultural heritage. Gianni Maritati, deputy editor-in-chief of TG1’s Culture and Entertainment desk, will moderate the event.
