Lorena Ercolani

Lorena Ercolani is a DanzAutrice, choreographer and artistic director, and a leading figure in Italy’s hip hop and urban scene. As president of the cultural association Urban Arts Project, she promotes and champions urban art in all its forms, pursuing a constantly evolving vision.
Active since the early 1990s, she took her first steps in Rome’s hip hop scene through freestyle and cypher sessions under the arcades of the historic Galleria Colonna, subsequently experiencing every stage of urban culture’s development right up to its mainstreaming. Over the course of her career, she has established herself as a street dancer, choreographer and art director, winning the title of Italian champion and representing Italy at the World Championships in Montpellier.
She received a lifetime achievement award at the Campidoglio and has also consolidated her career internationally as a guest teacher in the United States, teaching at the Broadway Dance Center in New York and The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.
Among her most significant initiatives, she is the creator and organiser of the ‘Only One Dance Contest’ and ‘Shut Up and Dance’ competitions, pioneering projects dedicated to the stand-up dance scene.
Her artistic exploration is based on a clear principle: the body has no boundaries.
