Dylan Cole, Golden Romics

The co-production designer and Concept Artist of "Avatar" awarded the Golden Romics

Dylan Cole, American production designer and art director, will be celebrated with the award of the Gold Romics during the XXXII edition of the Festival, scheduled from 4 to 7 April 2024 at Fiera Roma.
A native of California, Cole was the co-production designer of Avatar The Way of Water (for which he was nominated for the Academy Award) and supervisor of the design of all creatures, environments and the vegetazione di Pandora fin Dalle origini di Avatar di James Cameron. In twenty years of Career has participated in Over 60 films with different artistic roles, such as Senior Matte Painter (Ritorno del Re), Concept Art Director (Avatar) e Production Designer (Maleficent, Tron: Legacy).

Cole won the 2010 Directors Guild of America Award for Production Design for his work in Avatar and a nomination from the Art Directors Guild for Production Design for Alice in Wonderland and Tron: Legacy.

Passionate about teaching, he co-authored the book D'artiste Matte Painting: Digital Artists Master Class with which he shared his creative process with audiences around the world and with the Gnomon Workshop he published educational DVDs on digital painting and concept art.

Recently he told his passion for the alien worlds also in the children’s fiction book The Otherworldly Adventures of Tyler Washburn and his artistic gaze has always stood out in the film industry for the richness of details and colors, and for the dynamism of the poses with which he suggests to directors and Art Department exciting atmospheres and unforgettable universes.

During the XXXII edition of Romics, Dylan Cole will be the protagonist of a special meeting that will retrace the fundamental stages of his artistic career also celebrated by an exhibition of prints of his most famous works.
