Victor Perez, Golden Romics of the 36th edition
The visual effects master of Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean and Fantastic Four awarded the Golden Romics
Victor Perez, one of the most authoritative international figures in the visual effects industry, will be celebrated with the awarding of the Romics d'Oro during the 36th edition of Romics, scheduled for April 9-12, 2026 at Fiera Roma.
Winner of two David di Donatello Awards for Visual Effects (The Invisible Boy and Gabriele Salvatores' Naples-New York) and numerous international awards for direction, screenplay and VFX, Victor Perez has worked on some of the major film franchises of recent years, including The Dark Knight Rises, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pirates of the Caribbean: Beyond the Sea's Edge and, more recently, Fantastic Four: First Class, where he appears as one of the project's VFX Supervisors for Marvel Studios.
At the heart of his work is a deep focus on visual storytelling and the potential of new technologies as tools for telling stories in ever-new ways. A vision that has made him a reference figure not only as an artist, but also as a popularizer and trainer within the international VFX community. He has spoken at major events such as SIGGRAPH, FMX and VIEW Conference, and was recognized in 2012 by the trade press as one of the most influential visual effects artists in the world. Considerato un vero e proprio guru del compositing VFX, He has given masterclasses at major studios and educational institutions, including Pixar Animation Studios, DNEG, Escape Studios, and The Animation Workshop, and was a speaker at TED in 2016. He is also the author of the best-selling volume The Color Management Handbook, a reference text for color management in the world of visual effects.
Alongside his film work, Victor Perez is currently also involved in a major international art-exhibition project. The exhibition, titled "Steely Dreams," will open in Tokyo later this year. The project is a fine-art photographic series that reworks the imagery of the great mecha of the Japanese manga and anime tradition - from Gundam to Evangelion - transforming them into monumental and silent presences, integrated into real-life cityscapes. Crafted through cinematic photorealistic workflows and rigorous photographic composition, the works create a sense of wonder suspended between memory, myth, and contemporaneity. Steely Dreams consists of 30 photographic works, produced as certified museum giclee prints, in limited editions, intended for international exhibition and collecting circuits.
During the 36th edition of Romics, Victor Perez will be the protagonist of a special meeting that will retrace the fundamental stages of his artistic career, offering audiences a unique opportunity to discover up close the creative processes, technological innovations, and vision that have helped revolutionize contemporary cinema.
