Mythology and Women in One Piece: When Manga Gets Serious

Behind the great adventure of One Piece lies a complex and layered narrative universe. Its author, Eiichiro Oda, interweaves mythological and religious references, reflections on the desire for freedom, and a deep and multifaceted construction of the characters.
From this analytical perspective, the volumes "Mythology in One Piece" (2025) and "The Women of One Piece" (2025) were born, protagonists of an encounter that will accompany the audience to discover the symbols, cultural themes and centrality of female figures in the saga.
The books will be presented by Ilaria Grossi (1992), author and passionate scholar of imaginary manga. Always linked to the world of comics and animation, he combines his professional activity with a research and in-depth path dedicated to Japanese pop culture.
In 2024, she made her debut with a story in the collection "Otaku Stories" (Idrovolante Edizioni); in 2025, she published "Mythology in One Piece" and edited "The Women of One Piece," volumes that offer a critical and thematic reading of Oda's work, with the aim of offering new tools of interpretation to readers and enthusiasts.
