Marco Valerio Gallo - Storyboarding: telling through images
Marco Valerio Gallo, storyboard artist and illustrator, will be the protagonist at Romics 37 of a meeting dedicated to his career and the art of storyboarding, a fundamental tool in the construction of cinematic and audiovisual storytelling.
Born in Rome in 1974, he began his professional career in 2006, collaborating with important Italian film and advertising productions. Throughout his career he has worked alongside numerous directors, including Carlo Verdone, Andrei Konchalovsky, Gabriele Mainetti, Gabriele Salvatores, Paolo Genovese, Paolo Sorrentino, Ricky Tognazzi, Sergio Castellitto, Ferzan Özpetek and Pupi Avati.
A meeting to retrace his artistic and creative journey and enter the heart of the storyboard artist's work: from translating the screenplay into images to constructing shots, pacing, and staging, to the dialogue between drawing and direction in defining a film's visual identity.
Winner of two Golden Film awards for Best Storyboard Artist, in 2016 for They Call Me Jeeg Robot by Gabriele Mainetti and in 2018 for Ugly and Bad by Cosimo Gomez, he has also collaborated with important brands such as Honda, Toyota, Missoni, Campari, Ferrero, De Cecco and Mulino Bianco. Alongside his professional activity, he also teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the Roman School of Comics.
