Furuya Usamaru
Born in Tokyo in 1968. Graduated in oil painting at the Tama Academy, after being interested in sculpture and butoh dance, Furuya debuts in 1994 on the pages of the famous underground magazine "Garo con Palepoli" (Coconino Press, 2021), having an immediate success that convinces him to devote himself full-time to the world of the manga,
Giving up the career of art teacher. Since then he has published in the major specialized magazines of Japan some of his series, including "Happiness", "Genkaku Picasso", "Suicide Club" and "The disqualified", inspired by the work of the writer Dazai Osamu. His works have been translated into the main Western countries. Oltre a “Palepoli”, Coconino Press ha pubblicato in Italia il manga fantasy “La musica di Marie” (premio AnimeClick come miglior volume del 2019), “Plastic Girl”, le serie “Amane Gymnasium” (7 volumi) e “51 Modi per proteggerla” (5 volumi) e le antologie di racconti "Garden and Sodom 1985".
