Franco Bixio

Franco Bixio has signed around seventy soundtracks for the cinema, continuing the musical tradition of the Bixio family. In the ’80s he founded the Trafalgar studios in Rome, a point of reference for musical recordings, post-production and dubbing. Since 1990 he has led the Bixio Publishing Group, which includes a historical catalog and over a thousand soundtracks, together with the Cinevox Record, Bubble Record and Musikstrasse labels.
Under his direction, the group created famous soundtracks for Italian fiction, including Un medico in famiglia, I Cesaroni and Tutti Crazy for Love. In 2005 it signed an international agreement with The Orchard for the digital distribution of the catalogue, consolidating sub-edition agreements in Europe, Japan and the Americas.
Bixio has promoted prestigious events such as the concert season at the Parioli Theater with artists such as José Carreras, Renata Scotto and Leo Nucci, the international Sanremo Classico competition and the “Concert for Europe” at the Baths of Caracalla with M° Daniel Oren.
From 1998 to 2004 he was President of AFI (Italian Phonographic Association), representing Italy in European projects on copyright and digital music and promoting the European Music Copyright Alliance.
Among his most impactful initiatives are the KZ Musik project, a monumental record series dedicated to music composed in concentration camps (1933-1945), and the documentary Musica Concentrationaria.
