An English teacher, convinced of the fundamental educational value of school, is assigned to a difficult high school in Rebibbia.
Her colleagues have lost hope of getting anything from the final year class, the most challenging students—withdrawn, a chaotic mix of urban melting pot backgrounds. Between smoke and broken families, drug dealing and first loves, stories of sex and resignation, the students waste themselves day after day among joints, smartphones, and prejudices, convinced that life outside school is only hostile and closed to them.
The teacher—or rather “Pressoré,” as everyone calls her—has three choices: run away like her predecessors, not care, or enter that lion’s den unarmed.
Trying unsuccessfully to understand them, she will manage to reach their hearts and give meaning both to their school journey and to her own life as a teacher.
